My wife has a pain killer addition. She calls dentisits and doctors out of the phone book and tells them she is hurt or has a bad tooth ache. They call scripts in without even seeing her. This has continued for several years now. I need to stop it however apparently arizona has passed a law that says the doctors cant discuss my wife's perscriptions with me. obviously I have had her in counsling she gets better for a while then go's back to it. Can I contact the pharmacys and have them stop issuing the bogus scripts? I am afraid she will overdose or hurt someone else |
My response:
There is nothing more you can do from a practical standpoint. The reality is that she's entitled to her medical privacy, and you can't do anything to stop her.
The only thing you can do to "distance" yourself from the potential liability of what she's doing is to divorce her. That's it, end of story.
Otherwise, if you don't, and she kills somebody on the road, her liability is going to drag you down the tubes right along with her.
