| | | Nevada, I had a foot surgery 15 month ago.The podiatrist said, its a simple surgery.Today my toe is not moving and I'm wearing slippers at a last 15 month.I had a pin in my foot for six weeks, and I was in a wheelchair for 2 month.
Two weeks from now ,I will have my 2. reconstructive surgery.I had nerve damage, and pain.My toe is shorter, and will be more shorter after this surgery. My lawyer said its hard to prove it is a malpractice.Do you think podaitrist are certified to do a 3 hour bone surgery, or only orthopedic surgeons. This podaitrist a DPM.I was a waitress, and I never had any foot problem, the podiatrist did the surgery because my toe can't flax greater than 5 degrees, and I had a discomfort when i was in a high hill.So he said its simple surgery, and a discomfort will go a way.My orthopedic surgeon said the podaitrist "butcher'd" me, but he don't want to be part of it. |

I don't know very much about podiatrist or the type of surgery they are licensed to do, but what you are describing sounds a bit extensive; more than "simple surgery."
My first suggestion would be for you to contact the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners and ask them these questions. They would be able to give you specific information regarding the qualifications and laws regulating the practice of podiatry.
I have never known a podiatrist to do more than remove an ingrown toe nail. That would be considered "simple surgery."
You may want to contact other attorneys as well. Sooner or later you will find someone willing to take you as a client and file a claim against the doc. You have obviously suffered injuries as a result of his "simple surgery", and therefore should be entitled to compensation.
I wish I could give you specific answers, but I just don't know that much about that particular field of medicine.
Best of luck to you.
Pam
