| Power company mess up The short version is we bought some vacant property a few years ago with an existing power meter pole and the line from the big pole to it. A storm knocked down my pole, I called the power company to cut the lines so I can replant my pole. Two years pass, we're ready to move our mobile home out there. I call to have the lines re-connected and the power turned on. They turn the power on without connecting the lines to the pole. We have been out there several times in the past 2 months getting ready, digging trenches, mowing, etc... No incidents from the power being on, but we assumed there was no power because the lines weren't hooked up (they were still lying on the ground). Now the power is off until they come and connect the poles together, but my question is, can they be sued for public endangerment or something? It seems awfully stupid that they would turn the power on without checking that the lines are connected. As far as my knowledge of power lines go I had live wires laying in my front yard for 2 months, just waiting for an unsuspecting neighbor kid, dog, me and my mower, or my wife to walk by and brush up against them.
The lady I talked to said I had power to my pole from 10/31/01 to 1/08/02 when in fact, the wires were and still are lying on the ground.
Thanks,
