Question about Reglan

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Oklahoma

I have been prescribed Reglan for a little over 3 years. I saw one of those attorney ads soliciting people who have had one or more of 4 separate potentially severe side effects. I also had read somewhere the FDA was requiring a stronger black box warning on the Reglan. (Not sure what the black box warning means)

I quit taking the Reglan close to 6 weeks ago after I saw the first ad as I didn't want to develop any adverse affects. As I'm unaware of what the medical terminology used meant I don't know whether the ataxia I have could have been one of the four issues with Reglan.

I'd like to know if anyone here knows anything about the four side effects because if it might have been what's caused the ataxia. Even though I've quit taking it, the ataxia is still very active. I'm interested in any information where I can find a starting point to determine whether the ataxia and the Reglan are related.

You should NEVER EVER stop taking a prescribed medication without asking your doctor first. Which is the same thing you should do if you believe you are experiencing a side effect.

I understand and agree to a point about the stopping of a drug without my doctor's knowledge and approval.

Reglan was prescribed as an 'as needed' drug so there were times when I wouldn't have to take the reglan for a week or longer. Since I saw the infocommercial late on a Friday night, it wasn't feasible for me to place a call to him at 2:00 am to let him know I was stopping an 'as needed' drug. I did call on Tuesday as I needed to let his office know of another drug I wanted to try to stop taking. Because of ongoing stomach issues I see my doctor monthly and we discussed the dropping of the 2 drugs.

Some days it's just darned difficult to adequately explain one's situation.
