our water heater by rheem had a defective (dip tube) which they covered the expense to have it removed. still after months we are finding chunks of the tube coming out of all faucets and clogging them to the point of no water preasure. we replaced two faucets that were damaged from the product at our expense. we are having septic problems that are costing us a fortune. our water is not able to drain in the drain field, which cause raw sewage to stand in our yard.
we were told by a plumber that we need to replace the water heater, which is only 5 years old. we cant afford all these problems that rheem has caused us. and we are concerned for our health since we consume and bath in the water.
where do we begin to get either compensation for of out of pocket expenses and/or damage to our property restored to the way it was before the dip tube situation. on the rheem website it explains the defective product-and how they will cover the cost to fix---but what about the damages

I find it very hard to believe that a dip tube caused all those problems. The dip tube is usually a copper pipe that directs the cold water entering the hot water tank to the bottom of the tank. There is no way that pieces of it should be able to enter your water system and there definitely is now way that is would cause problems with your septic system. What exactly is plugging your faucets? If it is rust or scale, that would be from the water pipes. Hard water can cause scale in the pipes that will cause problems. Most drain fields use 4 inch pipe, it would take mighty big pieces to plug them. When was the last time your septic tank was pumped? If it hasn't been done in the last 5 years, you may need to have it pumped. Do you have the problem only with the hot water faucets? Or is it with both? It sounds more like a problem in the plumbing system than a problem with a hot water tank.
