A quick internet search isn't showing anything on Norplant. One pretty large study showed no adverse effects. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean there aren't any and that they won't start showing up in the future as these children mature. My former bosses wife also got pg (about the same time as you), her son has no complications. You might also want to do your own internet search on vaccinations (immunization complications) and consider having your son's mercury level checked even if you have do so out of your own pocket. I'm listing a few sights for you below, please note that I am vaccine bias, so keep that in mind when reviewing these site then do your own search as well.
From my state:

Info on mercury:

This site lists a ton of additional sites:

I know this wasn't the information you were seeking. However, 15 years ago when I oldest son was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD I had no idea ..... and I'm NOT saying to give up on the possible Norplant connection either.
Good Luck to you and your son.
