25% Garnish

What is the name of your state? California
OK the short of it is. Car Repo'd, Judgement levied against me, and now 25% of my check is being Garnished. This is going to put a undue burden on me and my finances. Basically I can't live off of what is left over. How can I put a stop to this or have this revisited to lower the amount taken? I'm in contact with the collectors attorney but I'm not really getting anywhere. Need some advice...

Thanks

(undue burden? – it’s a judgment)

25% is against disposable income (gross minus required deductions). Against the remainder, you’re entitled to further deductions for the necessities of life (food, shelter, medical etc.), certain existing secured obligations and legally-mandated expenses (eg. child support).

Look over the following forms. Work on the financial statement and see if you could get additional deductions. If so, follow the instructions to schedule an exemption hearing and claim them.
