any way to clear credit report?

What is the name of your state?MD

I had a checking account that had a $500 overdraft limit. My mother was on the account with me since I was under age when it was opened. She used the overdraft privilege and was unable to pay it back within the 30 day limit. Now it is on my credit report as a bad dept and I can not open a checking account on my oun. She is making payments, and the collection agentcy said the they will talk to me about my report when it has been paid in full.

Is there anthing that I can do to have it completely removed from my report since it was not my dept to begin with?

First of all, I think you are talking about 2 issues here. The first issue is the bad debt. Because both of your names were on this account, it is going to be on both of your CRs. What you can do is to try and make an agreement with the CA that you will pay the debt in full ONLY if after you do this, they will remove it from your CR. If they agree to this, GET IT IN WRITING.

Your second issue is that you are unable to open a checking account. This is not because of the item on you CR. Banks don't check your CR to open an account. However, they do use ChexSystems. Your bank most likely closed out your account because of the NSF and reported you to Chex as well. If this is the case, you will be on Chex for 5 years from the date you were reported. I am told that there are ways around this. Use a search engine such as Yahoo or Google and type in the word "ChexSystems." A lot of sites will come up that may be able to help you. I don't know if they actually work, but it's worth a shot.

Good luck.

Some of the online banks that are online only do not use ChexSystems for approval.

Also, you could get lucky by taking some money to a credit union in your local area (so that you are able to become a member) and starting a savings account. I believe most will allow you to open a savings account without checking ChexSystems.

Then, once you've been a member for a while, say about 3 or 4 months, you go and open a checking account. Sometimes they will not check ChexSystems if you already have an account. It's a long shot, but it might work. I've heard of it working before.

You can also get a Paypal account. Once you get that, you can request a check card from them. The check card will act like a checking account card.

Thanks for the advice. I already have a paypal account and a paypal card. The problem is I need to have a checking account or a credit card to transfer money into it. Will paypal let me transfer from a saving account?
