bank account garnishment

I live in OH and have a judgement against me for a credit card.

I received paperwork for notice of garnishment of property other than personal earnings and anwser of garnishee. I am to complete the form for answer of garrnishee and also enclosed is a request for hearing. Where can I go to find out that I am filling out the paperwork correctly? Do I need a hearing?

The first question is: garnishee has money, property or credits, other than personal earnings. of the judgement debtor under the garnishee's control and in the garnishee's possession. Then circle yes/no.

I understand that they want to freeze my bank account (it usually only has a little bit of money after paying the bills each month), but the only way I can pay the money is with my payroll check. what other property are they talking about? We do not own our home and I am paying on a used car I bought 2 years ago. It is ten years old. Also I do not have the money for an attorney.

Any suggestions would be great. I have read many helpful post in this forum.

Thank you

If you have not done so before this, you need to get your EXEMPTIONS filed with the court, otherwise they will be able to take your personal property to sell. That means your furniture and all the other 'stuff' you own. If they're going to sieze your bank account, you would NOT be notified in advance. If they're going after wages, then the garnishee is your employer - not you.
