bank levy

What is the name of your state? formly nyc now florida

i lived in nyc and went through a divorce a year ago and i co-signed on things for my former husband and not to mention the credit card debts he built up under my name. now i live in florida and i go to access my bank account and they state i have a levy on my account. i never got a notice of judgement, nor did i sign any certified ketters or received any letters stating that i was getting my accessts freezed. i go to access my bank account today to find out they have a levy on my account and i was given a lawyers name. what are my rights on this? how can they just take your money without you knowing about it? and how could they prove i knew about this when i never got any notice or phone call? what can i do to have this levy removed as soon as possible?

In the order presented: Very few. Just as they're doing, except now you do know. As you mean it, proof isn't important, but ask your ex. Probably nothing, on the facts, but you may be able to claim exemptions.

After that, close and change the bank account.

Besides the last one that you asked, what are the other questions?
