Being sued for credit card debtMy state is Texas. I know in Texas your wages cannot be garnished. I also don't own land or a house and most of my assests are excempt by Texas law. What can they do to try to collect when I lose the lawsuit. I read somewhere that they can take from your bank account. Does this apply to savings accounts also? Should I hire a lawyer? Usually how long does one of these lawsuits take. |

| Yes, they can attach all bank accounts including savings. If you have enough money to pay a lawyer, why don't you use this money to pay your debt. The debt is yours, isn't it? |

| I don't know if I can afford a lawyer, but I think the lawyer would be much cheaper than the $10,000 they are wanted to sue for. I just don't have that kind of money. I would like to set up a payment plan, but I can't seem to get an answer out of them. What if you just close your bank and savings account and put your money in someone's elses account - could they still touch it. |
