Being Threatened with Court over old medical bill. HELP!

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?AZ

I just received a letter from a "Law Office" in the mail. The letter stated that a new company has purchased the debt and is requiring the payment of $428.00 ASAP or they are going to put a judgement against me. This is the first I have heard of this bill. I have been told by co-workers that a medical bill in Arizona is no longer able to be collected after 3 years on my credit, is that true. I went to the BBB and their records on this "Lawyers office" is poor. I have not contacted the Lawyers office yet, I wanted to find out where I stood with this first.

Please help me.

Arizona has a 6 year statute of limitations on written agreements and a 3 year statute on open accounts.

Without knowing more, it is hard to know if this is a written agreement or an open account.

Dispute the debt with the law firm and ask for validation. Once you dispute the debt this must cease collection activity until it is validated.
