Best solution to make my ex pay for a vehicle under both our names? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA Here is my situation... I got divorced due to my ex having an affair. He decided to keep the truck which I'm the primary since his credit was terrible at the time we bought it. It is also in the settlement so by law he is responsible to be paying for it according to the judge. I've called toyota since he's always late and they've already repod. it once which he was able to get back. He is currently almost $2,000 past due and Toyota keeps calling me several times a day every day. I cannot get a hold of him because according to him he no longer has a cell phone. The only number I have for him is his work phone which he never answers. I don't know if I should let Toyota repo it and if they do, can they sue me? I'm trying to think of the best solution here. I was recently laid off so I don't have the money to be paying for it. I've told my ex several times in the past to refinance so I would not be on the loan but all he says is that he's tried. This guy is a serious liar and I cannot believe anything he says. On top of this... he owe's me money as well. Please help... I'm stuck in a deep hole and I don't know what to do. I found out where he lives because I kept seeing him driving out of a neighborhood which is a block from where I live. I decided to look for the vehicle and found the house. I know he lives there because I pass by there occasionally and it's always there. He now lives with the girl he cheated on me with along with all her kids. He's ruined my credit and keeps doing so. I can really use all the advice I can get. Thank you. |

Guess you didn't expect the news would be so bad, huh. Sorry.

If you don't pay it, you will have bad credit and may be sued. If you don't pay it and file bankruptcy, you will have bad credit and they will go after him for the balance. If you do pay it, you can head off the bad credit and possibly recover the money from him. Sadly, there is no option that doesn't screw you in some fashion. You just have to pick which one will hurt the least. DC
