Bill Legitamacy

PA

1.5 years ago I acepted an employment offer from a construction company. I had a contract outlining my responsabilities and some of my benefits. After the contract was signed by myself and my employer he informed me of my other benefits. I took extensive notes and dated it on the back of my contract. One of these benefits was free concrete, all I had to do was pay the delivery. I took advantage of this 5 months ago. I was given every copy of the bill after the delivery. 3 weeks ago I gave my resignation and was immediately escorted from the building. Since then my family and I have recieved harrassing phone calls from my former employer regarding my concrete. I week ago I recieved a bill for the concrete totaling a little over $1,000.00. What should I do with this bill and how can I handle the situation. I feel as if I dont owe the money.

Thank You

Jason

Well, at this point, do nothing. Your notes don't constitute a contract. If sued, you can present your side, and show proof that you weren't billed until after your quit.

Another thing you can do it make an arangment to do a Settlement so it doesn't affect your credit and then take the construction company to court. But easiest thing if you want to wait is just write a letter for ceast and desist they by federal and state laws they have to stop calling you. Then just sit tight and wait for a lawsuit because it will happen eventually.

Maybe you didn't fullfill your end of the contract by resigning in which they can then say that some of the benefits are taken back. Example: If you are given free training but must sign a contract that says you do not have to pay for this training if you stay emplyed for a year, but then leave after 6 months. You are then required to pay for the training that they provided. There might be a clause that says that if you don't fullfill your contract and resign, all that free concrete would not be free then. Just a thought.
