Bounced checks

What is the name of your state? it was Michigan where this happened now reside in Washington

I wrote a check and due to a series of unfortunate events, there was nearly a hundred dollars less in my account then the check was for. Bank charged me a fee and sent it back. I added additional funds just enough to let the check pass through...long story short this happened 3 times and the dang thing never cleared.
I don't want to go to jail!!!
I want to pay it but am unsure how to do so as my income biweekly does not cover it all in one lump sum. Any suggestions?

Contact the payee of the check and see if they will make arrangements with you. The check they now have can no longer be run through and they are probably sending it to collections if it is to a business.

My response:

Veronica, this deadbeat is writing multiple threads concerning the same subject. Read this one and my response:

Veronica, thank you for your thoughtful post. I am NOT a deadbeat. i am a woman who supported her ex clear through a masters degree and after 18 years of marriage he cheated on me and our kids...then got a lawyer and screwed me out of our home and stuck me with half the bills. (I make 20K a year he makes over 80K)
While I am considering bankruptcy, there are many things I wish to pay off as soon as possible. This check, the payday loan, and past due utility bills, etc.
I assume you will come to your own conclusions on this matter, but I am really hurt because I wrongly assumed that I would be getting advice from people who understand, not people who make me cry.

Kathy, I am sorry for your situation, but I was teasing IAAL. Not you.

Although passing a bad check is illegal, most of the time the payee just wants their money. Contact them and see if you can work something out.

Thank you Veronica

I'll do that tomorrow. And no I haven't become a lesbian. I am just down on people in general at the moment. I just don't understand how people can be so insensitive when someone simply asks for a little advice. If I didn't want information on how to do this the right way, or if I could afford a lawyer to ask, i wouldn't be here.

it cost me 300 to drive my van, alone from Michigan...sleeping in rest stops. I sold everything I got out of the divorce (which was nothing) to get back home to LIVE with my parents while I work to get life back in order and pay off bills.
Its not like I took some luxury 1st class flight here and had all my wonderful priceless heirlooms transported cross country. Everything I owned was packed in my van.

Men like yourself are a reason I would consider becoming a lesbian.

My response:

So, are you saying that lesbians are just as irresponsible as you? Are you saying that lesbians would "understand" your deadbeat ways?

You didn't have to leave Michigan. That was your CHOICE. Instead of taking payday loans, or writing rubber checks, you could have used that money to pay your debts.

You know what? You're right. You're the only one who has ever been divorced. Blah!!

Do you know how many divorced women you passed along the way to Washington?

Cry me a river, okay?

check with payee

Most PayDay loan companies have a national presence. If the same company exists here is WA go to the nearest office and explain to them about the check. If you have the payday loan document take it with you. They will get it transfered to that office. Also, in WA they will set up a repayment plan if this is what you want to do.

Help and advice is what these forums are all about.
