CA reported claim to transunion

What is the name of your state? TN

URS of Colorado has repored collections information to transunion as o 02/01/08. My first initial contact was by phone on 02/19/08. Validation letter sent certified mail on 02/21/08which states this action might constitute fruad. During the month of Feburary, I was updating my credit report and they retrieved my new phone number, but still had an address from eight years ago.

Any recourse since they reported the claim before the letter. thanks in advance

Yep. You can contact the CRA in writing and ask them to investigate the validity of the report.

I typically dscourage people from dealing with creditors by asserting claims of fraud. Fraud is a group of torts for which there are very specific tests and conditions, not the least of which is intent. Bottom line...negotiate with them, but try to do so without "the attitude" and always in good faith which means that if you say you are going to make a payment on a date certain, do so.

I'm confused on this one.
The normal order of things is (roughly) as follows:

1) You incur a debt
2) You don't pay said debt
3) Debt is handed over to a collection agency
4) Debt is reported to the agencies and, concurrently, CA attempts to collect said debt
5) Consumer requests validation
6) etc etc etc

What make you think there was any fraud involved by the CA reporting the debt to the CRA's?
