Campground electric bill finance charge

What is the name of your state? NH

Hello, I might be posting in the wrong forum but would still appreciate your help. I left a seasonal campground last year and neglected to pay my final, monthly electric bill of $7.86. I received an invoice today stating that a finance charge of $50 was added to the bill and that it was added during the first 30 days of it being past due.

To make my case weaker, I did receive a request for payment within the first 30 days (or so) but, for whatever reasons, forgot to pay. That request did not, however, have any added finance charges.

I am liable for this debt and will understand the incurring of a finance charge but the $50 seems excessive and arbitrary and we never received any policy regarding finance charges from the campground owners in the past. I was never late with any monthly electric bill in the five years I camped there and will immediately pay this one (a tad late) but am very uneasy about the $50 late fee.

Do the owners have the right to charge such an amount and state that it was incurred during the first 30 days in today's statement when it did not show in the statement received back in the fall after we left the campground?

Thank you for your help.

Check your agreement to see what it says about late fees. But $50, I would just pay it and be done.
