What is the name of your state? ok

If you enter into a business deal with someone and you have a written agreement with this person and later suspect there was never a business deal at all ... it was just a way for this person to get your money ... and the money has not been paid back ... can you have criminal charges brought against this person ? if so what would they be ? Fraud?
Also if the person tries to pay back the debt but the check will not clear the bank ... can criminal charges be brought against the person for writting a hot check? if so what kind of charges would they be?

Thank you for any advise. What is the name of your state?

If there was fraud involved in the 'business deal', AND you can prove it, yes, you could press criminal charges for fraud.

Also if the person tries to pay back the debt but the check will not clear the bank ... can criminal charges be brought against the person for writting a hot check?
If they deliberately wrote a bad check, knowing full well there was no money in the account to pay it, yes, in most states that is a criminal offense.
