Talk to a bankruptcy lawyer.

Yes, they can take you to court and sue you for the monies owed. What they can do once they obtain a judgment depends on the laws in your particular state, but it could include a lien on vehicles, homes, personal property, real estate, levying of bank accounts, wage garnishment and etc.

You should do as Judgy advised and speak to an attorney regarding the possible filing of bankruptcy. There are ways to protect/keep your home and car and just take care of the debts that you can no longer handle.

Whoa. Slow down a second.

NC has a very short 3-year SOL. When was the last time you made a regular payment on these credit cards?

The strategy is different depending on whether or not the debt is out of statute.
