Can proceeds from an accident be taken for judgement on credit cards

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NC
I had a slip and fall accident and are thinking about sueing the property where it happened. I was injured and have hospital bill and doctor bills. I owe about $25,000 on credit cards that i am behind on and am waiting for the collections letter to start. The Credit card companies don't even want to disguse a realizable payment plan with me. Question: If i win the personal injury case can the Credit card companies seize the proceeds or freeze any bank account I put the money in? Thank you

It is certainly possible, if they sue you and receive a judgement prior to your settlement. Of course, getting out of debt is a very good use of any lawsuit settlement.

No.

Yes. Once the money is in a bank account it is fair game.

No! Not in NC. they won't let them touch your bank or garnish your salary.
