Can they take House in Ca? Help! What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California I am being threatened with a lawsuit for an unsecured credit card that I defaulted on. *If they are granted a judgment against me, can they take house or other personal property. I am married and hold title jointly with husband, am unemployed and have two small children. He had no knowledge of these debts and only my ss# and name were used to obtain them. *Can I file a quit-claim deed now to protect house? *If I got a part-time job, then could i file separately for bankruptcy to protect husband and home? |

| CA is a community property state. Your debts are your husbands debts.
