You'll need to check CA statutes but.......I can state from experience, yes...medical debt can be garnished. As a result of our divorce, the $5000 hospital bill from our son's birth was split between us. When his portion wasn't paid (and as he was the primary contact name on the bill) his wages were garnished until the balance was paid in-full, plus interest. Again, check with CA statutes...my experience was in Illinois. |
