I purchased a new vehicle about 9 months ago, and thought i was gonna be able to put a down payment on it, so i wrote 2 postdated checks. I later went home and thought about it and decided that it wasnt a good idea, and told the salesman i wasnt going to purchase the car because i couldnt afford the down payment. The dealer told me to go to the financing credit union, and the dealer called them and told the bank that i had made the down payment in CASH, so that the financing would go through. Then at a later date,(i didnt cancel or void the original checks) went and cashed the checks which bounced and went to a check collecting business, which now wants money. I have paperwork and contracts signed by the dealer saying that the down payment was made in cash, but i have no actual reciept for the cash. What are my options or am i just screwed???? |
