Civil Judgement and Time Frame

What is the name of your state? Idaho

I live in California and in 1998 got a civil judgment against me while living in Idaho for a house I rented for 6 months. I called it out-of-state gouging and "they" called it "too bad." I know it can stay on my credit for a certain amount of years but for how long? Also, can "they" take me back to civil court and "renew" the case? How many times can this be done? Then does it stay on my credit for X amount of years again or is there a time limit based on the original civil suit. It is a small amount 1000.00 but it is not worth me going to court up there for that amount.
