Exclamation

collecting a debt from a friend(?)

Texas

Five months ago I lend a friend $1000 to take some educational courses. This was a good friend and I did not document it. Since then she has paid me $00 back and evades phone calls and seeing me. She also moved and is working at a new job. I do know her new place of work. I know I was amazingly stupid, but any advice on how to go about collecting this debt? Thanks so much. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

1. Send her a demand letter demanding immediate payment or you will sue.
2. If you can't find her, hire a detective to locate her.
3. Hire Vito to persuade her to pay you back.
4. File a small claims lawsuit.

3 of the 4 above are your options.

Thanks for the reply - I like the Vito one the best, but I think that is the one that doesn't apply

I will send the demand letter. Would this hold up in small claims if I don't have it documented?
