What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kentucky
I live in the state of Kentucky and only have Social Security as income. The state claims that I owe over $600 in back taxes from years ago. Can they hold my Social Security to collect the debt? This is the only income I have.

Social Security can be garnished for federal government debt and child support, but I don't see anywhere where state government debt can be included in that list.

Thank you!

I will pay it back but I can't afford to pay it all at once. At least my limited income is safe for now.
