Company was bought can I collect?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois
I have a customer who owes about $50,000 for snow removal. I was just informed that the company was bought out/ sold and would need to contact their lawyer for info. I get the feeling they are setting me up for a very big loss. I have a very small company and it would be a serious financial strain if I was unable to collect these outstanding invoices. Can they legally not pay me? Should they have informed me of their plans? I have a contract for my service does that hold any water? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to be talking to your corporate attorney.
