Credit Card Charges from Ex Girlfriend?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

Hello Everyone,

I'm hoping to get some advise here, so here's my situation:

I allowed my Ex Girlfriend to put charges on my credit card in the total amount of $6100.00.

The charges consist of a vacation (she agreed to pay her half), along with other merchandise, clothes, etc.

These charges were allowed because she assured me that I would be paid back. (she now has the ability to pay me based on a settlement she just received, I knew this prior to letting her make the charges)

I have emails of her agreeing to the total amount owed, and saying that she would pay me.

I have printed out all the charges for her to review, she even wrote me a bad check (as a partial payment).

Obviously we are not on good terms. I have done everything I can do to be fair. Because of the amount I understand this is a civil court matter.

I am about to start filing the paperwork with the courts.

Does anyone have any tips, input?
Anyone ever deal with something similar?
Do you think I have a good chance of winning?

Thanks for any help

I'm not a legal person by any means, but I truly believe that as long as you have documentation from her agreeing to pay these charges, the court will rule in your favor.

Make sure you include the cost from your bank for the returned check as well.
