Credit Card collection

Me and my wife owe approximately $6,000 in credit card debt. We paid on time every month until about 6 months ago when we moved and could no longer afford to pay for housing and credit cards. We have 4 credit cards that have been turned over to collection agencies. We have tried to make arrangements, but we are unable to pay what they want. Should we file Chapter 7 bankruptcy? Our credit reports already show the accounts as charged off. We do not own a house or car and we have no savings. We get disability payments and that is all we have.

Have you talked to a bankruptcy lawyer?

That would be the place to start.
