Credit Card Debt of anothers paid by me

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

I have been paying my girlfriends credit cards for a period of time via my checking account. I realize that her debt has become considerable and she may need to look at bankruptcy.

By paying those credit cards, have I opened myself up to any liability with the creditors since the payments were coming from my account?
