Credit cards at 15...What is the name of your state? Florida When i was 15 years old I went on the internet and applied for about 4 credit cards. When I applied I put my correct social security number yet a different birthdate to make me legal age to apply for credit. All cards were issued to me and I maxed almost all of them out. Well, at the time I thought I could pay them ( in a 15 year old's mind who makes 5.15 and hour duh i was crazy) so I only made a few payments, then never again made one. I recieved letters in the mail from collectors and such...now it has been 5 and 1/2 years and someone came to summons me at my mothers house ( my previous address) to pay back one of the debts which they are not aware of my actual age, they just want their money. I was wondering if because I was 15 at the time, if I could some way get out of this debt or If I would be charged with fraud because I entered incorrect information on the applications. If so, would I be charged as a minor? What about it being 5 years later. I was also wondering because my mother just told them she wasnt sure where I was if I dont contact the court will they put a warrant for me out because they cant find me to summons me? I know I was wrong when I was a kid, but now Im an adult and it is haunting me. Can anyone help me out ?? Thanks so much... |

| If at 15, you only made a few payments, I assume you defaulted at 15. Well, the debts are out of the statute of limitations: Quote:
I do not approve of this behavior and it IS fraud. If they find out you lied about your birthday on your applications, you may find yourself in hot water. The SOL may not even apply due to that. I hope you learned your lesson!!! |
