creditor attempting to collect a debt from husband's bankrupcy

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

New York State
A debt collector is again attempting to collect a debt from a credit card dicharged in my husband's bankrupcy from several years ago.
I have requested, at the lawyers advice, for a copy of an original document to prove that I, the wife, am legally responsible for this debt. They have only sent me copies of credit card statements which show the debt as being discharged with a 0.00 balance. I do not believe that this is my debt and am simply asking for proof that I owe this. They have been harrassing me for years. The bankrupcy was in 2005.
What can I do?? I can not afford to hire a lawyer and would like this removed from my credit report.
