| | | debt collections What is the name of your state? Texas
I am not able to pay my 2 visa cards and my JC Penney and Mervyns card because I am unemployed. What will happen if I don't pay them other than get bad credit? Can I be sent to jail? Be sued in small claims (even though it wouldn't do any good because I still couldn't pay them). Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

This *generally* means that you have less than $7,000 in assets, but can vary from state to state - so check what is exempt. if you are judgement proof, then nothing happens to you. Even if you are sued.
If you truly have little money, and can't pay your bills. Nothing will happen to you. Other than a bad "credit report". Which will clean itself after 7 years.
If you don't have it, you don't have it. Forget about it until your situation improves. Try to concentrate on paying for the essentials such as housingand utlities, and put the consumer debts out of your head for now. you could also call them and tell them that you are "judgement proof". You would be surprised out how willing they are to work with you when you tell them this.
Sorry for your troubles. I hope things improve for you. Good luck. | Thank you so much for your help!!!
