Debt collections for business utility

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kansas.
My ex-husband and I used to own an incorporated business. I resigned from the business in December 2004 in the middle of trying to divorce him. When the divorce was finalized in 2005 he was awarded what was left of the business. This week I got a call from a collection agency regarding the phone bill for that business. I recall that when I initially set up phone service for the business they asked me for my name to put on the bill as the business name alone was not sufficient. Am I liable for this bill? Is there a statute of limitations for this and does it help me at all? I am fairly confident that the unpaid bill would be from the spring of 2005. Please advise. Thanks

That sounds very much like you effectively agreed to be a "co-signor" of the account. If that was not made clear to you, then you might have a defense if you never actually signed anything. But if they sent you paperwork to sign with that on it, you are definitely on the hook for it.
