Debt Collectors after Foreclosure

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

Hi,
I have been receiving calls from two different numbers the past couple of months. I have googled these numbers andf learned that both oif these are registered to a Debt Collection agency.
My foreclosure went into effect in June '08. I am afraid that this is a collection attempt of my second Mortgage (Heloc). I have a copy of my most recent credit report and that line item has been "charged-off". Would this be included in the Debt Forgiveness Act ? What am I liable for?
Please advise what appropriate actions I would need to take in order to protect myself.

**A: the lender/creditor has every right to collect any and all deficiency monies owed. Even if a collection item is listed as a charge off on your credit report, the amount is still owed and can be legally collected.
