Deceased mother's health care billsWhat is the name of your state? Colorado My mother suffered a stroke in January and was hospitalized and in LTC for about 3 1/2 weeks before passing away. My father has received a bill from her insurance company for her deductibles and some other assorted costs which they are not covering (it is a small percentage of a huge bill). Does my father have any obligation to pay these bills? My mother and father have just about nothing and any $$ I can save him will mean a lot. Thanks for any help. What is the name of your state? |

| If he really can't afford to pay, he can try contacting the hospital and pleading poverty. They may agree to write it off or help him get some state aid to cover it, but he will probably have to provide some proof of income and meet qualifications. As to whether he is responsible for them, I suspect the answer is Yes, but I don't know for sure. |
