| Negatives are reported for 7 years PLUS 180 days starting from the date of first deliquency with the ORIGINAL creditor. The date of first delinquency is usually 30 days after your last payment and that date is REQUIRED by law (FCRA) to be furnished to the credit bureaus. Even if you can't see it on your reports, the bureaus have that date.
Collections cannot outlive the obsolescence of the ORIGINAL debt, because of that DOFD date. You may have 2 entries one for the Utility and 1 for the collection agency, that's legal, but the dates must be the same, otherwise its illegal re-aging.
