default judgement / "domesticated" to CAWhat is the name of your state? California I recently had a default judgement against me in a NY court. Thought that my lawyer/ friend had taken care of it, come to find out that he had been brought up on his own criminal trail and was unable to help. Just found that out obviously. So now, they have "restrained" what money I had left in banks in NY. My question is: if they get the judgement domesticated to CA, 1.) how long can that take? 2.) is there a statute of limitations for a NY judgement to be brought to CA? meaning if the breech of contract happened more then 4 years ago, is it valid in CA? what are the SoL in CA? 3.) can they come after my car? 4.) can they come after my wages? I have gotten different answers from 3 different attorneys. Can someone please clarify? Thanks |
