Dentist said they did more work then they did

What is the name of your state? New York

I went to a dentist feb.of 2000, because I needed a tooth pulled, I had the office visit and X-ray done on my teeth and in the middle of the x-ray they told me that my insurance would not pay so I tlod the dentist to forget about pulling my tooth because I didnt have any money on me, so that same day went to another dentist and had no problem my insurance approved it and they pulled my tooth. Anyways didnt here nothing from the first dentist that my insurance wouldnt pay up untill 2005 recieved a leeter from a lawyer stating I owed the first dentist $400.00 so I called and I told them I never recieved no bill from them and I ask them why it was so much and they said they did all this work on my teeth when they didnt, I told them I refuse to pay for work they didnt do. They said it is my bill and I have to pay , after that they sent me to more letters in that year and they looked like court papers for a judgement so I thought it went into judgement but now 2 years later I get another letter from the lawyer stating that i now owe $789.00 and if payment is not recieved in 15 days they will continue litigatin process plus adding additional fees and interest to the original debt. Its been over 7 years isnt there a statue of limitation law. And they refuse to take payments or take half. What can I doWhat is the name of your state?
