How can I get them to transfer the debt to me, stop the calls to my parents that are elderly & W/dementia? Is there a solution?
Please help. I feel so burdened with all this. My credit is poor, have very little money, my home is mortgaged and recently divorced. Thanks for your help. |
The debt is in your parents' names (at least one of them). It cannot be "transferred" to you. However, you can have your parents send a limited cease and desist letter, telling them to only contact them in writing. Send it certified mail, return receipt. You can also send a validation letter, CMRRR. This means they cannot continue collection activity until they have provided proper validation.
