My parents allowed me to use their discover card about 10 years ago. Maxed it out, and over the past 10 years I have paid on it, on and off. Now it has gone to a collection agency and they have left messages on my parents home phone several times a day after dealing with me over the years. How can I get them to transfer the debt to me, stop the calls to my parents that are elderly & W/dementia? Is there a solution?

Please help. I feel so burdened with all this. My credit is poor, have very little money, my home is mortgaged and recently divorced. Thanks for your help.

The debt is in your parents' names (at least one of them). It cannot be "transferred" to you. However, you can have your parents send a limited cease and desist letter, telling them to only contact them in writing. Send it certified mail, return receipt. You can also send a validation letter, CMRRR. This means they cannot continue collection activity until they have provided proper validation.
