Doesn't have to validate debt? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ I'm being sued. I didn't find out about it until I got the official summons with a court date. I responded to the court stating that I had no knowledge of this debt and have requested same from JDB. I got a letter from the JDB saying that they send a letter in August 08 about the debt and that I didn't reply asking for VOD within 30 days. This may be true - I sometimes didn't get my mail (that's fixed now). Question - is it true they don't have to validate the debt? What happens if I go to court? Will I automatically lose? I honestly have no clue what this debt is. |

| They can choose to sue you instead of validating. You will need to file for discovery to get more information about the debt. If you are not familiar with court proceedings, you should hire a lawyer.
