What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia
I decided to continue my education through the University of Phoenix Online. I obtained a student loan from Bank of America and began taking courses. I realized that unlike I had expected all of the grades for the courses were based on group study with people from other locations (out of state, differing time zones, etc) making contact difficult. I decided that this type of study was not for me so I decided to stop taking the courses. When I did this, UOP sent the loan money back to Bank of America and told me that I now owe UOP $4300 because that is what they sent back. I tried to make payment arrangements with UOP however they would not accept anything but the full amount at one time. The debt is no longer a student loan, but now a bill. UOP is trying to send the debt to collections and I'm afraid of it ruining my credit. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do??
