eskanos :(

What is the name of your state? California

Sept 22 I started gettings calls from this lady from Eskanos & Adler on my mobile phone (don't have a home phone) about an almost 4 year old credit card debt. She offered a 50% settlement, problem is I just don't have $1900 to give away. She said if I don't work it out with her, I will be sued.

I was supposed to call her back, but didn't. About 3 weeks later she called me at work. I let her know I'm not allowed to get calls like that at work, she didn't really listen. She's called for me here at least 3 more times. She called to speak to my mgr to verify employment.

I'm really scared that I'm getting sued... I know ppl say that eskanos rarely sues but i think i'm approaching the SOL and that's why she's hounding me. Is it too late to send her a letter saying don't call me only write me? where do u get that limited C&D letter?

also... i contacted a debt consolidation company and they said that as long as i have a consolidation plan set up before there's a judgement against me, i should be fine.

what can I do to get this lady off my back for now? i could pay in like april... but not now.

How close to the SOL are you and are you CERTAIN of the default date ?? Do you have recent credit reports ? Eskanos doesn't sue, or they do very rarely. She is applying the pressure to scare you, don't cave in. Their M.O. is pure intimidation, so don't talk to them and cut them off with the letter.

Send the slimeballs at Eskanos a cease and desist letter telling them to cease all PHONE CALLS and any further contact must be by mail only. Further, add that you are not allowed to take calls at work and they are NEVER to call you there again, doing so would be yet another violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. Verbal notification IS binding.. but they ignore it so put it on paper.
