Ex-Wife Collections Lawsuit, WAWhat is the name of your state? WA Ok, Just received summons for a lawsuit filed against me & my ex-wife for medical expenses due to services received after separation. Separated on 2/16/04 Expenses were on 2/20/04 Divorce paperwork was filed on 5/2/05 Within the decree of dissolution, section 3.5 it states "the wife shall pay all liabilities incurred by her since the date of separation, February 16, 2004" As the date stated in the dissolution is prior to the date of the debt, in your opinion should I be free of the debt & collection, or due to the filing date being much later than the debt therefore the legal separation being later, am I still liable? What is the name of your state? |

| Use the decree as your answer to the lawsuit.

| However, since the creditor wasn't a party to the separation and divorce agreement, they are not bound by it. You better bet (to save your credit) is to pay them, then sue the ex for your money back.
