False collection attemptsWhat is the name of your state? Texas Troy University is attempting to collect tuition for distance courses. I never signed up for these courses and the first I heard of it was when they sent me a bill for $900. I did take courses in the past from this school and had no problems. I've contacted the school denying that I registered for the courses, but they continue to claim I registered for the courses online. Now I have two F grades and a collection agency calling me. I wrote a letter to the school asking them to prove that I registered for these courses but have received no response from the school. The collection agent called and said the school stands by the registration and expects payment. Any advice??What is the name of your state? |

SOL (Statutes of limitation are DEFENSES to lawsuits; they do NOT provide a method to stop someone from suing you. This defense means when they sue you, you answer with the defense that it is barred by the SOL.) Disputes: You can write a letter of dispute to the three credit reporting agencies. Go this website to find instructions and samples for how to dispute: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/creditreports/ Sometimes errors are easy to remove and sometimes they stick like glue. It is inexpensive to try and not difficult. I am NOT a creditor-debtor lawyer; stand by for further help. I am NOT vouching for the accuracy of these websites! False collectionI have no fear of the collection as I will contact the credit agencies and have this repaired in the future. My biggest concern is the false grades I received and the impact on applying to future schools. |
