Garnishment and credit report

I am living in wisconsin and we just got a garnishment for an outstanding debt. I was wondering how long does it stay on your credit report? once it is paid up does it come off?

The garnishment isn't on your credit report. The collections stays on your credit report, I think, for 7 years past the date of last activity, which, in your case, will be the date after the last payment. You should have negotiated to "pay for delete".

The judgment behind the garnishment will stay on your credit report 10 years.

Yep - 10 yrs. The judgment (allowing the garnishment) can be reported for 7 years or until SOL runs out whichever is longer - SOL on judgment in Wi is 10 yrs.
