going to court over debt collections

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TEXAS I know that I can be sued without being served papers, but I have absolutely zero funds for a lawyer or to pay anyone back (I have medical issues). Can I go to court without a lawyer? Also, can I refi the house I share with two others to get my name off of it before all of this happens?
