Granted extension to file answer to lawsuitWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?New York Iwas granted an extension to file my answer to a lawsuit by the Plaintiff's attorney. I immediately drafted a letter of confirmation to send to the lawfirm. Should I also file a copy with my County clerk's office so that it is on file with the summons that was sent to me? I'm afraid if I don't, the original deadline will pass and the court will render a default judgment against me. The lawfirm is Fulton Friedman & Gullace and the Plaintiff is Asset Acceptance LLC. |

| I'm pretty sure such an extension has to be granted by the COURT, not the opposing attorney.
