Have a Hold on my Bank Account

What is the name of your state? New York

Hi all,

Before I became disabled, I had credit cards and settled with most of them. The 2 banks I did not settle with was bought by an attorney and he put a hold on my bank account for alot of money.

Today I received a letter from the Sheriff about the money I owe. Do I have any rights at all? I own a house and my disability payments just cover my expenses.
