Help! Can they collect?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Massachusetts

I owe my fraternity around 500 dollars. I simply don't have the money but these rich kids don't seem to understand that. Anyways they want to send me to a debt collection agency. Due I legally owe them a penny? I never signed anything, I do not attend events that cost them money. Help would be appreciated

Thanks

As a member of a sorority, I can tell you, that before you were initiated, you were TOLD that there were dues.

If you couldn't afford the dues that these "rich kids" can, then you had no business becoming a member of their organization.

And yes, they can send you to collections.
